RECORDS & REPORTS

Daily records-the goal is to create a system that works for you. Faithful Scholars policy is that these records are to be kept in your file for at least the current year, up to two years, but with no requirement to be kept longer.

  • Master Plan: This can be created as a master plan prior to the beginning of the year and checked off along the way. Do not get worried if Tuesdays work is completed on Wednesday. You will fall into a rhythm that will follow an orderly pattern. If a subject keeps falling off your day, make it the first thing you do each morning, even before breakfast because everyone will be invested in getting it completed with a good attitude.
    • Mark each day lessons are completed with a date and attendance day number. Counting forward is most helpful.
    • Track books, labs, field trips, special learning events next to your date/attendance
      • a blank planner is great for this as you do not have the pressure of fitting into a date, but the freedom of adding the date as you go.
  • Week by week or month by month if you are a pre-planner. For many this can be frustrating as things change, but if you remain on a regular rhythm, just like above, it will fall into place with no need to erase/move Tuesday just because it happened on Wednesday. Just scratch out the date, and replace.
    • Don’t forget to mark your attendance as you go.
    • This is super useful as you hand over some record keeping responsibilities and independent learning to your students around grades 4-8.
  • Day by day
    • Quick notes of what you did is ample, or you can go into detail

Mid-Year Report: Day 90 of lessons/attendance (usually around December). Remember that these are for your files.

End-of-Year Report: Day 180 of lessons/attendance (usually around May/June). Remember that these are for your files until you have high school credits to input

CO OPS

Before February: Set up a visitation day with co-ops of interest. Visits help insure a good fit, but plan for a full day visit as a glimpse is too limited.

  • It may take several to find ‘home’, so give yourself and the co op director time to plan.
  • Registrations often begin as early as January/February

Continually changing list of SC Co OPs. If you find one that is no longer meeting, or discover one that is not on the list, please let us know. This is a page that requires attention that we choose to give to our parents, and rely on members and co op directors to help us keep this page current.

  • Rolling admissions – mostly always open
  • Early Action deadlines: mid-October to mid-November
  • Early Decision I deadlines: mid-October to mid-November
  • Early Decision II deadlines: mid-December to early January
  • Regular Decision: December to January

Be sure to check the websites of the colleges for exact deadlines. Better yet, have your high school student call and ask. You can script the conversation if they are nervous, but this is just plain good practice for adulting!
