Participation builds friendship!
Friendship builds community!
Community builds confidence!
GET STARTED BY PARTICIPATING IN ONE OF OUR GROWING LIST OF EVENTS BELOW
BUILDING A FOUNDATION OF FRIENDS BEGINS WITH MAKING THE TIME TO SHOW UP. JOIN OUR EVENTS CREATED FOR YOU!
Expand the following article, “Homeschooling was Never Meant to be Done Alone” for the pro’s of making the time to attend in-person social events, and the opportunities we would love to help facilitate to bring in-person events in your area.
HOMESCHOOL WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE DONE ALONE --help us change this for you and your children - expand for full article
Homeschooling should be both engaged and engaging and, at times, wonderfully complicated.
Faithful Scholars meets you in all of these places through:
- Growing list of in-person events
- Umbrella Skye online/app parent community & helpdesk
- Faithful Scholars website content & hand-holding support
- A constantly expanded vision of meeting your needs
Each of us has chosen to be fully present with our children, 24/7/365, with the shared goal of raising individuals of strong moral and educational character.
Our Three Most Important Tools
- Our personal knowledge and experience
- Books, curriculum, and other resources
- Community, which is perhaps the most important and most often overlooked
But there is one little problem… How do you find your people when you school at home?
- Co op
- Church
- Parks
- Grocery store lines
- In-person Faithful Scholars’ events
Faithful Scholars is creating more in-person opportunities each year because you have asked for more face-to-face homeschool community.
And honestly, all that is missing is you!
Creating an amazing, smooth flowing day-to-day homeschool experience that expands imaginations and develops critical-thinking skills requires dedicated focus.
But even the most dedicated homeschool parent can become a little myopic when working alone.
We can:
- Fall into repetitive routines
- Lose perspective
- Question whether what we’re doing is actually working
- Get stuck on the same lesson for what feels like 47 years
- And eventually find ourselves staring at a lesson while our child considers how to jump ship
That is where in-person community comes in. We all want it, but our automated societal norms have quite honestly, well, er, can I say this out loud? – made us lazy. I know because I fight the same battle. (What? Leave my home? As in, get in the car and drive out of the neighborhood? Gasp!) So we ask, but we do not show up.
Find Your Homeschool People
Come find friends with whom you can share:
- Ideas
- Inspiration
- Defeats
- Questions
- Encouragement
- Laughter
- Joy
- Friendship
Together, we can nurture self-governed, lifelong learners who we are preparing to be the future world changers, or maybe just a positive person able to support themself.
The Faithful Scholars Option 3 Association and the Umbrella Skye online parent community walk alongside you daily, helping you shift your energy toward:
- A simpler approach
- A beautiful homeschool lifestyle
- Greater confidence
- More connection
- Less isolation
Friendship Is the Secret Sauce
- Brighten a parent’s day through a quick text of encouragement
- Provide fresh perspective when the homeschool wheels feel a little wobbly through shared ideas/experiences
- Remind you that you’re not the only one navigating homeschool
- Put a little spark under those lollygagging students by a planned study together day or a play date
- Give you someone with whom to celebrate the wins
- Give you someone who understands the hard days without requiring a 45-minute explanation
Greater joy comes from sharing the journey– in person!

You don’t have to create the whole thing alone.

Our Spring Cane Creek camping trip was fantastic, and we loved reconnecting with familiar faces while meeting new families! We are excited to invite you to our Fall Family Camping trip at Morrow Mountain State Park from September 25–27.
We are already looking forward to the cool, crisp air, the beautiful autumn leaves changing colors, and cozy nights sharing s’mores around the campfire.

Hagood Mill Campout, June TBD, 2027
Our summer campout coincides with unique hands on Hagood Mill summer immersion youth camp where they teach the beautiful arts of the Upstate and immerse into SC history, nature, and culture. We have enjoyed this camp so much that my daughter volunteers as an assistant as often as she is able and I hang out by the cool babbling brook.
This is primitive camping with an amazing bath house and world-class disc golf course and nearby hiking.
This is not an official Faithful Scholars’ nor homeschool specific event. All are welcome!
Reserve your space directly with Hagood Mill offices. Contact or call 864-898-2936
Stay tuned for our next event!
What They’re Saying
General Thank you so much for your time! I haven’t filled out the membership yet—I’ve just been reaching out to associations, gathering information, and reading about SC homeschooling requirements and recommendations online : ) South Carolina is set up differently for homeschooling than the previous states we’ve lived in. I feel like your association provides great support for homeschoolers, especially for high school- and, you answered in person and followed up with a knowledge and wisdom-filled workshop! Thank you!
Thank you in advance for the high school workshop and the help you provided! Navigating these high school years, no navigating transcripts, is so difficult but you made it simple!
All presenters worked hard to make Mamas feel like what they were doing was what was best. I really appreciated that. I also really appreciated that there was an allowed day option. The food was great and the one-on-one sessions were greatly appreciated as well. It was nice to feel like what each family was doing was good as long as it was best for their family.
Thank you Katie! I’m glad I was there, I learned so much. I went home and apologized to my child. We can do better.
It was so fun to meet you this weekend. Your spirit of enjoyment of life exudes, and your eagerness to create a better future path for home school families is beautiful. It was amazing to share time with you this past weekend. We have made changes and are already seeing positive rewards.
The FS retreat encouraged me as a homeschooling momma, but on a deeper level developed lasting lifelong friendships that I treasure to this day. Homeschooling can be hard and daunting, but having friends in your corner who know you and love, and your children, gives you strength to press on. Attending the retreat will help you find your people and nourish your soul.
